Well, my 17 mile ride last Friday turned into an 11 mile ride and 6 mile walk due to a flat tire. Not one motorist, including 3 Sheriff's cars (one may have come by twice) stopped to see if I might need some help or a lift back to my car. Is that typical? I hope we can do better than that in Baldwin.

Sorry for your bad luck and the lack of help, Jim. Why weren't you able to repair the flat tire?

Cheap tube. Split along a seam.

One thing I always enjoyed about bicycling is your ability to repair your own vehicle. You can easily caring a spare tube, a pump, a spoke wrench, and chain tool in a small pouch. It is great sense of independence. Pack a small kit next time, and enjoy a new freedom to roam wherever you like. I once repaired a chain for a Dream Team rider on BRAG. He thought his vacation was ending, but we were able to fix the bike and keep on rolling. :)

Bummer. :(
That happens. A patch won't cover a rip. One reason to always carry a spare tube. I keep a tube, a patch kit, a multi-tool, a copy of my insurance card and a little cash in my seat bag. Also a CO2 inflator if I don't have a pump on the bike.

One long hike in Look cleats was all it took for me. :p
