The meeting began at approximately 6:00 pm.
New Announcements!:
*The new forums are up and running. The calendar is working and can be used by all registered members. We also need more people to read, login, and post! If you have any problems, contact Benny so he can have it fixed.
Review of last month’s activities:
*Coopers Ride on July 20, 2008 at 9:00 am. There were six riders present. It was also Benny's first ride since he began is battle with chemotherapy. A very beautiful riding day.
*Greenway Ride on July 26, 2008 had 9 participants, including two new riders.
Upcoming rides : See new forum ---
*Post your rides so others will know.
*Savannah Century is scheduled for the final weekend in August (Saturday the 30th and Sunday the 31st). http://www.savannahcentury.com/
**TIME CHANGES
*The Monday road rides will now start at 6:00pm instead of 5:30. This will allow Adam to participate, being how he is now working at OO and gets off at 6:00.
*The Greenway rides on the last Saturday of each month will now start at 8am instead of 9. The earlier start will make for cooler temps and less sun.
Working events :
*Our president would like us to spend the money we raised during the 2007 and 2008 April Fools Rides. Budget was approved in April. On the agenda this month is to move forward with the “share the road” signs, the website, and the bicycle rack for the Greenway.
*Time to start making plans for April Fools Ride 2009!
New Business:
*Heather brought up the idea to help transform Milledgeville into a "Bike Friendly Community." She has also discussed this with several city officials to see what the next steps are to pursue the goal of achieving this designation from the Bike League.
*BATTY: Bikes are Traffic Too, Ya’ll
A monthly awareness event to include themes, costumes, contests, and a 20 minute ride through downtown. Members are requested to think of potential themes and costumes, restaurant sponsors, and how to recruit as many riders as possible.
*Tentative date for the first ride: Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 7:00 pm.
Next meeting scheduled for August 27th at 6:00 pm, 211 Lanier Hall
