In a way, we are all new members here, so let's all take a moment to acknowledge that we are here. Maybe tell us who you are and how you are involved in the Bicycling Club of Milledgeville. Don't reveal things you don't want everyone to know, but give us something. ;)

Actually, Coopers Unincorporated Community in rural, SE Baldwin County.
How you have participated in Club rides, meetings and activities:
I started the club in 2005 as a way to get more local people riding and to create a community of cyclists to promote bicycling advocacy locally.
I am currently the club's President. I've been involved in pretty much everything the club has done. (but I've had a lot of good help)
How you would like to participate in the future:
I want to keep building on the club's great start. More riders, more rides, more advocacy projects, more fun.
What type of bicycle riding you do or want to do (road, MTB, bike path, touring, neighborhood riding, stunt, racing etc.:
I consider myself mostly a road rider, but I am also very involved in mountain biking. My main focus is on long road rides of 50 to 100 miles, but I also enjoy just tooling around town or on the Greenway. I like riding on rural roads. I like organized riding events and have done BRAG (Bicycle Ride Across Georgia) 15 times.
Offroad I like somewhat technical singletrack and want to do more longer rides like some of the 50 mile trails through the mountains.
What bikes you have or plan to get:
'92 Bridgestone RB-1 "Ribby" - Classic lugged steel road bike. The love of my life.
'08 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp "Radar" - Full suspension MTB trail bike with 4.7" travel front and rear. An incredibly fun bike to ride.
'92 Trek 970 "Kemo Sabe" - Classic lugged steel rigid MTB frame that I have set up in so many ways, for so many purposes, that it is hard to remember them all. Currently set up as a versatile, dirt/road bike.
'80 Fuji S-12S "Uncle Duke" - lugged steel road bike. Beater. A heavier, more relaxed geometry road bike for slower rides, commuting, tooling around. Cool and fun.
'03 KHS Tandemania Milano "The Red Shark" - Road tandem.
Other:
I am currently on hiatus from most of the types of riding I love to do while undergoing treatment for throat cancer. Hopefully I will be able to do some casual riding and trainer work throughout the treatment. Looking forward to getting this behind me and returning to riding.
Hi everyone, I am Jim and I am a bike-aholic.... Oh wrong forum.
Hi all, I am Jim Troche and I live in Milledgeville, I am an intensive care nurse and travel between here and LA California.
I started out riding mountian bikes mainly the Pig Trail in Macon. I took a hard face plant attempting a bunny-hop over a dead fall. I swore I broke many bones but I was just scraped up real good with deep bruises. I then decided to ride the road while I healed. I bought a 07 Trek Madone 5.2 SL and LOVE IT!!! I have never went back to the dirt. One of these days I will have to get the cob webs off my MTB...
I rode a few group rides in Macon and Los Angeles but nothing too intense. I can presently ride about 30 miles but I am going to try to ride 50 miles in the Covington Century. My ultimate goal is to ride a century by fall but we'll see.
Well that's about it for me, who's next...

How you have participated in Club rides, meetings and activities: I've been around since the early days of the club, and try to make as many club rides and activities as I can. I'm currently the Vice President of the club, and look forward to furthering our subversive agenda (More bikes everywhere!!!)
How you would like to participate in the future: By promoting bicycling every day! Also by keeping up more with my duties as an officer (I've been really busy lately...I know, lame excuse.)
What type of bicycle riding you do or want to do (road, MTB, bike path, touring, neighborhood riding, stunt, racing etc.: I like long road rides, and fast singletrack MTB trails. I'm also turning into a diehard commuter. I started riding to work regularly a couple of months ago, and find myself on the bike more and more.
What bikes you have or plan to get:
2006 Specialized Allez Elite my bike for longer road rides. Stock for now;-)
mid 80's Fuji Sagres 12 speed lugged steel with relaxed geometry. This was my first road bike, and is currently my everyday ride. Thanks Benny!
1997 Specialized Ground Control AIM A1 Pro --FS MTB. This is a fairly early FS design with a coilover shock (minus any suspension linkage!). As such, it hardly qualifies as a "full suspension" bike by today's standards (not much travel). I love the eccentricity of this bike and plan to overhaul it in the near future and update with some modern parts.
I'm looking forward to taking advantage of my employee discount to increase the size of my stable;-)
Other: I recently started working part-time at Oconee Outfitters, and will be going full-time soon...very soon. If you need a new bike, parts, accessories, or service come see us.

How you have participated in Club rides, meetings and activities: Sort of. Due to four kids and a lot of other conflicts, I have not been able to participate in a while. I check the website often.
How you would like to participate in the future: With greater frequency.
What type of bicycle riding you do or want to do (road, MTB, bike path, touring, neighborhood riding, stunt, racing etc.:
I commute from my home to GMC every day. It is about 4.77 miles. I enjoy all types of riding, except stunt. Sorry.
What bikes you have or plan to get: I have a GT Rave road bike. My wife has given me the ok to look for a new road bike. I am looking at a Giant ORC, a Trek, another GT or something from Bikesdirect.com

How you have participated in Club rides, meetings and activities: I joined in 05 when I moved here to meet people and return to an activity I enjoyed as a teenager with my dad. I've stayed pretty active since with meetings, planning, and group rides
How you would like to participate in the future: I'd like to continue my involvement and hopefully attend more rides, though my new school adventure may put a hamper on that...
What type of bicycle riding you do or want to do (road, MTB, bike path, touring, neighborhood riding, stunt, racing etc.: I ride road and MTB, and really enjoy the trails, but my experience and confidence is lacking enough that I really only manage the double track at Bartram most of the time...
What bikes you have or plan to get: I have a Cannondale no-suspension MTB decked out for commuting and might get a road bike some day...
Other: In the three years I've been riding my bike to work I've noted a VAST improvement in my reception on the road (especially N. Jefferson!). It has help my motive for involvement with the club morph heavily into getting more people seen on bikes riding appropriately. Cycling is not only fun and good recreational exercise, but it's a great mode of transportation! You never have to put gas in your bike, you never have to fight for a parking place, and by the time you get to work you're pumped and ready for the day (especially if you have a snazzy coffee cup that attaches to your handlebars!)

Other: I STARTED RIDING WHEN TRAILS WERE SCARCE & REMEMBER THE FEELING WHEN NEW TRAILS OPENED TO MTB'Rs(TSALI), I WANT TO DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO ADVOCATE THE APPRECIATION OF TRAIL PROPERTIES FOR FUTURE RIDERS TO ENJOY. FUNNY HOW THE MEMORY OF SOMETHING NOT AVAILABLE FADES OR DISAPPEAR UNTIL ITS GONE AGAIN. ADVOCACY IS MY GOAL-MORE TRAILS THAT BENEFIT OUR COMMUNITY, MY PASSION.

Road, Mountainbike, and I used to 'commute' to class 3 or four times a day (one mile round trip haha).

I don't know if you'd call me an "official" member, but I have met (and ridden with) several of the Asylum City crew over the course of the last year-and-a-half at Rock Hawk.
How you would like to participate in the future:
I'd like to start doing more group road rides. I ride solo up here for the most part, but that's getting kind of old.
What type of bicycle riding you do or want to do (road, MTB, bike path, touring, neighborhood riding, stunt, racing etc.:
Mountain biking, road biking.
What bikes you have or plan to get:
I currently have a Santa Cruz Superlight, a 06' Allez triple and, an old steel-framed Hardrock that I converted to a SS. I'm currently lusting for a carbon road bike or a 5" travel mountain bike, depending on which day you ask me. Neither of which I need.
Other:
I've been riding for ten years now, after kicking an eight year addiction to golf. Tried running after my golf days, but that left me very unfulfilled. I grew up on dirt bikes so mountain biking just seemed like a natural fit. I instantly fell in love with the sport and have since ventured into road biking. I'm currently working on building up my miles on the road and plan on doing my first "century" in November.

Club participation: None, just stumbled across the site while looking for local routes/trails
How I would like to participate: Greenway rides, occasional meeting. Until I get more confident in my skills, that is.
What type of riding I do/want to do: Just started riding for the first time since I was a kid about a month ago after my truck blew up. I'm currently chugging along on my short commutes, trying to get the basics down before I get too ambitious. My (current) ultimate goal is to make the trip to Athens, but I really don't have a timetable for when I'll be able to accomplish that.
What type of bike: Walmart beater. Hey, I keep hearing that it's the engine, not the bike. I was flat broke so picked up what seemed to be the best fit for $200. Friend of mine blabbered some specs when he saw it (which went right over my head) and told me it was a good budget bike, so I'll go with that. A new bike isn't even on the horizon unless I hit the lotto or this one becomes completely inoperable.
