I wouldn't normally post for something like this, but my sister, who lives in Knoxville emailed this to me today.

Join the fight against ALS at the 2009 Muscle Mountain Mania ride on Saturday, April 18.

This year's event will be held at the High Valley Resort in Suches, GA. The ride supports all levels of riders and includes a 15-mile Scenic Shorty, a 50-mile Fabulous Fifty, and a 62-Mile Muscle Mountain Mania. Bike routes wind through the magnificent Chattahoochee National Forest, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and along the Tallulah River.

The funds raised at the 2009 Muscle Mountain Mania will benefit the ALS Association of Georgia and the University of Emory ALS Clinic.

I hope to see you there!

I will not personally be attending, but my sister will be doing the 15 mile course. My Mom was diagnosed with ALS "Lou Gehrig's disease" in July of 2008, and passed away 4 months later. A terrible, terrible disease.

I had a good friend who was a strong road rider who died from ALS about 5 years ago. You're right, it is a terrible disease. I'll have to keep this one in mind. That's a beautiful area to ride. Suches is on the climb to Woody Gap, one of the Six Gap ride gaps and a KOM point for the Tour de Georgia.

Wow! I just looked at the website for the ride and the guy I was talking about is Bob Thompson, the one the ride is in honor of.
