July 20 '08 Coopers Ride

We had a fun ride with a nice mix of regulars, new people and one returning from a long absence.

It was my first ride after my chemo treatment began on 7/14, and yes, it has taken a lot out of me. I started strong, but faded fast. I had to stop a few times to catch my breath, but felt good about completing the 10 miles.

Joe timed his arrival perfectly, passing my house just as I headed out and we rode to the firehouse together. There we met Kevin, then Jim, Diane and Rachael arrived. Lori stopped by to take a group shot and then we headed out on a beautiful day on the 9 mile April Fools loop. Joe had already done the Ivey loop earlier. The rest rode further, but I'm not sure who did what. It was great fun. Thanks for joining me.

I limped home, showered and watched the exciting mountain top finish of today's Tour de France stage.

Thanks for getting me back on the bike again. The weather was good, the road was smooth, and I enjoyed the company. Jim and Rachael went out again for another loop. (Rachael is strong for a beginner) We ended up with about 20 miles for the day. Looking forward to doing it again.

Well, I see Rachael ended up buying a bike. That's great! Sorry I missed your first club ride, but I'll hopefully catch one next weekend. Hope the trip to Cali was nice Jim. See ya'll soon.
