Without getting too specific, the Tour de France this year has been a lot of fun to watch. With no overwhelming favorites, the outcome of each stage has potential to really change the leader boards.

I try not to be too much of a homer in international events, but it is good to see Team Columbia (as in sportwear), formerly High Road, with a couple of stage wins and other good showings. And Team Garmin-Chipotle, formerly Slipstream has had some great exposure and has a rider in good position for a possible podium spot at the end of the race.

If you aren't watching it or keeping up with it online, you are really missing a good event.

Let's just say that our cable company is LACKING, though I doubt I'd watch Versus for much else and every time I go to Versus.com to catch up I'm buried in SAAB commercials that are longer than the news reels.

That said, I found a couple of other sites that afforded alternative viewing BUT, my modem was not cooperating whatsoever. In fact, the internet connection at work was not WORKING for most of the week and guess WHO provides our internet connection. Our cable company. SO, needless to say we've been distressed with the available coverage, especially the mountain stages. Thankfully, they arrived yesterday with a new modem and assured us that today we'd be better. We'll see and I can absolutely assure you that I will not be purchasing a SAAB anytime soon and if I hear "born from jets" again anytime soon I might inadvertently run into to next SAAB I see on the road. (Smiles aren't working)

Anyhow, what little I've been able to catch has been entertaining though I truly wish the press would quit focusing so strongly on the 3 riders that tested positive and spend more time commending the teams that are working hard to run clean.

The live text reports at cyclingnews.com is a good way to follow the race without needing all the bandwidth of video. Even if you come in late, you can start from the beginning and read through to the end.
