Approximately 5:45 pm, Benny called the meeting to order.
We reviewed our accomplishments for the month of September:
First BATTY ride was a great success --- 29 riders and a lots of press coverage! We will continue to have this ride on the second Tuesday of each month.
Our weekly outings have not been as successful. We will be running out of afternoon/evening daylight soon, so let’s get out there and ride whenever possible!! Remember these rides are beginner friendly. No one will be left behind. Please, pass this message along and try to get new cyclists to join us!
Upcoming Events:
September 27th is the family ride at the Greenway.
September 28th, work day at Bartram to prepare for the national Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day! This event has already taken place. “Liz, Adam, Dave and I had a good ride/planning/work session at Bartram this morning. We decided on routes for various age and ability levels of riders. We decided to use the pavilion by the pond as a home base and will use the area downstream of the pond and the area around the labyrinth for the riding. We walked the trails with loppers and cut away overhanging brush to make a clear path for riding” --- per Benny.
October 4th: Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day! 9 am at Bartram Forests off of Vinson Hwy. Please see forum for details and visit http://www.imba.com/resources/kids/index.html.
October 9th: Benny’s BD ride! Celebrate his 53 years with 53 miles of cycling fun!! Please see the forum for details.
Next BATTY ride is Tuesday, October 14th at 6 pm. Meet behind OO for a 3 mile ride through town. The after party will be at The Brick. It is wing night!! 5% of our tables’ proceeds will be donated to the club.
October 25th: Family Ride at the Greenway. With the cooler weather finally upon us, we will probably move this ride back to 9 am. Please watch the forum for news.
We discussed new member recruitment. It was a suggested to design a poster featuring our family of riders. We hope that this will encourage those that are new to bicycling to join us.
Our new Web Master is Julia!! She will work with Richard to fix and maintain our website. If you have not already done so, please register on our forum so that you may take full advantage of all the site has to offer!
We started planning for next year’s April Fools Ride. The ride is scheduled for April 4th. We have a new location planned (will post when confirmed) as well as exciting new routes. Committees were formed so that we can all get a head start on the work. Working on this event is a lot of fun. Please review the committees and let us know where you would like to help.
